In a world known for looking for the next trend, ‘It-bag’, or up and coming designer, Everlane
has set itself apart as a fashion label. Started by people who saw a void in the fashion landscape, the label specializes in getting back to the basics.
Each design is carefully thought about and made in a limited quantity by a small design team.
They work with the same factories, which specialize in the product that they’re producing, for the production of each design. Because the pieces are sold directly on their site, there is no middleman and customers aren’t taxed with a high mark-up. By being transparent about their process, Everlane has managed to create an intimate feeling and a feeling that the producer cares about the consumer. Hailed by Lucky magazine, GQ, Style.com and the New York Times, to name a few, Everlane is where you need to be shopping for carefully and thoughtfully created basics.
Available for women and men, we have several pieces we plan to invest in soon! Made in L.A
from 100% Supima cotton, the women’s V-neck in merlot looks like the comfiest t-shirt we could ever imagine. Available in white, navy, forest, and muted black, this piece only costs $15. We’re partial to the merlot because of the way it will complement every skin tone and also add a bit of sophistication to what is usually a very casual piece. Every woman needs a nice silk blouse in their wardrobe and Everlane has the perfect one for $80. Made from 100% brushed silk crepe de chine many of the colors already have a waitlist! As spring approaches we’re more than ready to swap our pashmina and heavy knit scarves for their lighter cotton blend cousins. Everlane offers what they call ‘The Spring Scarf’ for $70. We’re partial to the peach and cornflower striped one because of the way it evokes a beach vacation.
(You must join Everlane.com to shop. Easy to join, just use your e-mail and create a password. Then you get the scoop for new pieces!)

By now, you have probably seen pictures from the Met Gala which took place earlier this week. This year’s theme was “Punk: Chaos to Couture” and some attendees definitely took the theme to heart more than others! If you were wishing you could see more and get up close, then we have some great news for you. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is running an exhibit of the same theme. The exhibit will be open from May 9 until August 14th, 2013.
You can see a preview of some of the images here. Taken from the museum’s website the exhibit will focus on “punk’s impact on high fashion from the movement’s birth in the early 1970s through its continuing influence today.” The exhibit will have men and women’s clothes in addition to both new and old pieces. Beat the crowds and go before tourist season in New York City really gets under way!

Over the next few days I’m going to update my blog with some of the writing I had done for another blog. It covers mostly eco-fashion, but some beauty as well!
SUMMER BEAUTY FAVORITES!
As spring gives way to summer and we start experiencing warmer days our beauty routine often changes. We swap out heavy foundations for lighter creams and strive for a sun-kissed look-regardless of whether we’ve been lucky enough to spend time on the beach! Here are a few summer favorites that you may want to incorporate:
· Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35 ($42): Known for its correcting power and light coverage you can’t go wrong with this pick. Added bonus is the SPF 35 to give you more power against the harsh summer sun.
· Bobbi Brown Sheer Color Cheek Tint ($26): This new product by Bobbi Brown is being hailed as a sure fire winner. Swipe some on your cheeks for a summery glow. It can also double as light base for your lip color.
· Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara-Very Black ($7.99): I absolutely love this mascara. I often experiment with different brands, but have been wearing this consistently for over five years. I love how much volume you get without any clumping!
The above three products will take you from the bed to the outside world with ease, but if you have a little more time on your hands here are some suggestions to further pump up your look!
· Urban Decay Naked Palette ($50): If you haven’t invested in an UD Naked palette yet, now is the time! I love how the variety of shades gives you an option for a simple day look or an amped up look for those warm summer nights.
· Urban Decay Glide-On Pencil ($19): I’ve been a huge fan of UD’s eyeliner pencils for years as well. I think they’re the perfect way to incorporate unexpected pops of color into your look. You can swipe on a thin streak for an understated look or layer it for something dramatic. My favorite is the color Deep End.
· Skindavia Make-Up Finishing Spray ($29/4 oz; $39/8oz): We all know how much of a challenge it can be to keep your make-up lasting for the entire day. Skindavia is a top rated brand in this arena. With sprays targeted for oily skin and even weddings it’s a sure way to make sure that you don’t have to waste time re-applying and checking on your make-up.
Get out there and enjoy your warm summer day!
